ACK!! Trials start soon!
January 5, 2009
Once I had solved my photographer dilemma and booked the bridals, I realized it was time to get serious about finalizing my bridal look. I know, it seems early to be finalizing anything, but my photographer is preggers and expecting in April, so we’ll be shooting my bridals at the end of February. Last week, I realized I was just about two months away from my bridals, and with fittings to be done, shoes to be dyed, crinolines and bras to buy, and decisions to be made about hair, makeup, and veils, I decided I had better get down to business and make some decisions.
The weekend before Christmas, Mr. CC and I traveled to my Dad’s house to celebrate Christmas with them. Since I have no David’s Bridal anywhere near me, I jumped at the opportunity to go in and get a crinoline and a long line bra. Yeah, I probably could have gotten the bra cheaper elsewhere, but it was convenient. I had heard rumors that David’s Bridal’s crinolines were dyable. When I asked the consultant if she knew, she looked at me as if I were sprouting a horn out of the middle of my forehead. She said, “well, I’ve never heard of anyone dying their crinoline, but I’m sure they are.” Wow, small town Alabama… Anyway, I bought my crinoline and a long line bra and crossed that chore off my list of things to do.
I also made some final decisions about my veil, but we’ll talk about that later.
I called and made my first fitting appointment and asked about the dying of the shoes. I scheduled my trials for the day of the shoot. And that’s when I realized I still don’t really have a good idea of what I want, hair and makeup wise.
I know I want a low chignon, with my veil placed on top of it. Kinda like this:

Except no flowers.
I really want to pull my vintage theme into my look with hair and makeup, since my attire is not vintage at all. I literally spent hours sifting through all the hair on Project Wedding. I have to say that I really like what Project Wedding has to offer, especially when compaired to other sites. My requirements were a low, pulled back look, no plastering, and preferably not curly. My hair does not hold curl at all.

I really, really love this look! The back is only slightly curly, the front is smooth, and very similar to what my hair does naturally, and the makeup is fantastically vintage. But I’m very nervous about wearing that red red red lipstick on my wedding day. I always feel a little, well, skanky with red lipstick on.

Oh, Katherine Heigl, I love you so much. These are both fantastic vintage looks without the red lipstick. I’m just not sure what the back of the ‘dos look like. Also, the makeup is very, very similar to what my daily makeup looks like.

Yes, it’s Katherine again. I really like this too. Kinda vintage, with the little pomp in the front. But that’s about it.
So what do y’all think? Which hairstyle should I go for: 1, 2, or 3? And what should I do about makeup, totally vintage, not vintage at all, or somewhere in the middle?
